Welcome to Courtney's Breast Cancer 3-Day Page!

Please support me as I take an amazing journey in the fight against breast cancer! The Breast Cancer 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Net proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust, funding important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.

Doing something bold...

Last year I wanted to participate in the 3-Day to demonstrate my support for this
most-deserving cause. Unfortunately, God and my body had other plans for me. I suffered
for 3 long years with ovarian cysts and finally, my doctor decided it was time to do a
complete hysterectomy. I had the procedure this past October and I am now fully
recovered and now I am more determined than ever to join the fight against breast cancer.
This year, with the support of my husband, children, family and friends, I have made a
commitment to this extraordinary campaign.
Please make your contribution to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization today.
Help make our world a better place for everyone because EVERYONE deserves a lifetime.

Thank you in advance for your support!!

Thinking positively...
I've been really enjoying my training - all except for my right foot! Apparently, the second metatarsal bone in my right foot is extremely long and causing a ton of pressure (PAIN) at the ball of my foot. I saw a podiatrist that recommended some injections - they did not help permanently, but provided some temporary relief. After a month or two of taping my foot up, we decided to go with the orthotix. Of course, medical insurance doesn't cover it, but I desperately needed them, so I bit the bullet and shelled out the cash. So, I'm on Day 2 with my orthotix and I can wear them for 2 hours today only. Tomorrow for 3 hours, Saturday - 4 hours, and so on. Anyway, I'm wearing them now and trying to think positively. The mental aspect is 60% of overcoming the pain, right? So, here I go! I got my 3 Day Gear package last week with my waist pack and the rest of my gear, so I'm going to start training while wearing all that stuff soon - just to get a feel for it all. Wish me luck! And thank you, again, to everyone who has donated. :)

WOW!
This past weekend, my best friend Summer and I walked entirely around White Rock Lake! It's somewhere between 9-11 miles around, depending on which path you take. We took the longest route possible, I think! It was exhilarating, exhausting and incredible - all at the same time! I got new shoes - which helped TREMENDOUSLY, but I have taken the last couple of days off from walking because my feet were so sore. I'll continue my training tomorrow and hopefully make it to a "Get Started" meeting asap.

Upping my goal!
Since I have raised $1000 in less than a month, I decided to go ahead and raise my goal to $3000. Please support me as I continue to fundraise and train for the big event!

Off to a great start!
Thanks to so many wonderful and generous donors, my campaign is off to a fantastic start! My training is going well, too! As of today, I have logged 36 miles! I am ready to look into joining a team that trains close to my area. Also, I am going to have to buy some new shoes really soon! I've just about worn out my first pair. Thank you again to all of my donors! I will be thinking of all of you - and your loved ones - throughout my journey!
